Amboseli National Park can be visited throughout the year. The park is always open from 6am to 7pm in the evening including the public holidays.

The highly recommended best time to visit Amboseli is during the dry months, which fall from June to October and from January to February. During the short rains in November and long rains in April and May the animals tend to spread out, therefore you might spot fewer animals as they tend not to go to the water sources. But due to the climate change, you can’t tell when the rains will rain.

The climate in Amboseli region is hot and dry. Temperature in Amboseli National Park ranges from 20-30 c throughout the year and the rainfall is from 200mm – 700 mm. The region has two rain seasons. The long rains come between March and April, while the short in November and December.

How to get to Amboseli national park

Amboseli National park is situated 240km from Nairobi via Namanga and 228 km via Emali. You can get to Amboseli National park by road or air. The best means of transport is by road using a customized safari minivan or a 4 x 4 Safari land cruiser. The vehicle will also enable you to do your game drives with ease.

The park has airstrips which are served by scheduled flights from Nairobi to Amboseli. Most flying safaris to Amboseli are normally offered as a package.
